Sacagawea: Bird woman | An echo of the past
Welcome to another episode An echo of the past !
🎥 The narration is part of the Echoes of the Past series - a channel where history comes alive through the voice of historical figures themselves.
Sacagawea - a name that means "Bird Woman" in the Shoshone language. A young Native woman who was kidnapped from her home as a child, sold, and yet became one of the most important figures in American history.
With a newborn son on her back, she walked thousands of miles through the wilderness, crossing the Rocky Mountains, rivers and the dangers of an unknown land. She was a bridge between two worlds - that of white explorers and that of native tribes. Her knowledge of nature, languages and diplomatic skills saved the famous Lewis and Clark expedition many times over.
