Black Brothers, is a well-known band from West Papua, Jayapura. The band consists of five members, led by Andy Ayamiseba. Their music, which is sung in the Tok Pisin language and originally in Indonesian, contains influences from various musical genres and political elements that inspired the Black Brothers as the Free Papua Movement. This group went into voluntary exile in Vanuatu in 1979, protesting Indonesian policies in West Papua. They then moved to Papua New Guinea. The Black Brothers were the most popular band in West Papua & New Guinea in the 1980s. The Black Brothers' reggae influence influences various other bands in West Papua and Papua New Guinea.
