Don’t Build This… Unless You Want To Melt Metal in Seconds (DIY Induction Heater)

Unlock the real power of a DIY induction heater.
In this video, I build a compact induction furnace using MOSFETs, an LC resonant circuit, and a custom coil.
You’ll see how it heats metal to glowing temperature in seconds, plus the core idea behind how induction heating actually works.

This device relies on:
IRF530 N-channel MOSFETs (you can use stronger versions)
MKP/MKT capacitors (0.3–1 µF, 400V recommended)
Fast diodes (UF4007 or similar)
A ferrite inductor from a PC power supply
A 12V power source
A copper induction coil (7 turns, 21 mm inner diameter)

⚠️Important notes:
These components operate at high frequency and get hot, so proper heatsinking is essential.
Use multiple capacitors in parallel for stronger induction.
Keep all solder joints short and clean to reduce losses.
The coil diameter, wire thickness, and number of turns directly affect power and heating speed.
High heat can damage components if pushed too far.

🛠️ How it works (short version):
Once powered, the MOSFET gates trigger a resonant oscillation in the LC circuit.
The alternating current creates a strong magnetic field in the coil, heating the metal rapidly through eddy currents.
Both MOSFETs switch at zero-crossing, keeping the oscillation stable and powerful.
