Akpabio, Abbass Lead 10th National Assembly

The 10th National Assembly has been birthed, but the inauguration came with a battle for the soul of the legislature. Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio has been elected President of the 10th Senate, while Senator representing Kano North, Barau Jibrin, emerged as the Deputy Senate President. Akpabio polled 63 votes to defeat his rival and former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, who secured 46 votes. Also, Tajudeen Abass was elected the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, with 353 votes to defeat Idris Wase and Aminu Jaji, who got 3 votes each.
