"The Negotiator" (1998) is a tense action-thriller that revolves around Danny Roman (played by Samuel L. Jackson), a highly skilled police negotiator in Chicago. Roman finds himself in a desperate situation when he is framed for the murder of his partner and accused of embezzling funds from the department's disability fund. To clear his name and uncover the truth, Roman takes several hostages in a government building, demanding that his innocence be proven.
Knowing he can only trust someone who is not involved in the conspiracy, Roman insists on having another renowned negotiator, Chris Sabian (played by Kevin Spacey), brought in to handle the standoff. As the tension escalates, the two negotiators engage in a psychological battle of wits, each trying to outmaneuver the other while uncovering a web of corruption within the police force.
