Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is on his way to the United States for talks with President Donald Trump, expressing hope that a compromise framework for peace can be found to end Russia’s war on Ukraine.
In audio messages released on December 27, Zelensky stressed that U.S. security guarantees are the key issue in any peace deal. He warned that Russia’s response to peace efforts has been a massive wave of drone and missile attacks, underscoring the urgent need for stronger air defense and long-term protection.
Zelensky said Ukraine will not legally recognize occupied territories and highlighted sensitive issues including territorial integrity and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, while calling European support “crucial” as talks continue.
