Customizing a Blythe doll (2024) - Hair Routine

This is the newest episode of the Blythe tutorial series, where I show you my recent Blythe hair routine. This routine can be used mostly on factory dolls since genuine Blythe dolls usually have different hair types.

I created this routine 7-9 dolls ago when I noticed that the Blythe dolls have very silky hair, but the volume is too big for my taste. I usually cut out 2 rows from the scalp. I count the rows from the edge of the scalp, then I cut out the 3rd row. I leave the next 1 or 2 rows untouched, then I cut out another row. Please note that I never cut too close to the central parting line, I always leave 2-3 cm wide untouched space. So I cut from the sides and back part of the scalp.

After I finished the haircut, I comb through the hair very well and put some water on the fire.

In the kitchen, I'm putting the scalp onto a stand in a big pot, then I'm pouring water onto it. The hot water flattens the pouffy hair and recreates the beautiful curls. I'm using a fork or a wide toothcomb to comb through the hair again. When I'm finished combing, I wring the hair and put it away in a safe place where it can be dried in 12-16 hours.

The dried hair is clean, silky, and beautiful.
