A Soldier I Will Be (Crossover Couples)

A week of editing, finished.

This was a big project, but one that I was more than excited to undertake. It started as a small idea to try and vid Guy/Guinevere to this song, and then developed into featuring two more couples and the entirety of this song. I think, in the end, I kind of focused on pairings where at least one of the characters are (currently) a little underappreciated in the vidding world.

Each set of characters has their own story.

Boromir/Kahlan: Boromir and Kahlan fight on the same side of a war against the Uruks, Boromir as a warrior and Kahlan as a Confessor. Boromir is attracted to Kahlan, but that is threatened when he sees her confess someone on the council in order to get a vote in her favor for a particular attack. She gets the vote, but at seeming cost of Boromir's affections. However, as Kahlan travels through the forest to visit an ally, Uruks attack and Boromir comes to her defense, tragically giving her his love as he lays dying.

Gwaine/Brienne: The two greatest tourney fighters in the land, Brienne and Gwaine have met in the ring several times. Gwaine is open with his affection and attraction towards Brienne, playfully flirting with her and such, while Brienne is more guarded, showing little to no affection. However, when Gwaine is captured as a slave and forced to fight with true weapons for the amusement of a king Brienne is contracted to, she becomes distraught and manages to get his life spared...but only so that he may duel her in the ring for his freedom. They meet on the field of battle and, while Brienne does triumph, she forfeits her win to Gwaine, and he walks away a free, but banished man, while Brienne looks on, knowing she will join him when her contract is up.

Guy/Guinevere: Similar to the "Hollow Plain" plot, where Guy is a spy and infiltrates Guinevere's encampment. They swiftly fall in love and marry in secret. When he is discovered, he is to be executed. Feeling betrayed and angry, Guinevere saves him, but out of a wish to slay him herself on the battlefield. Before the battle, Guy tries to sneak back to the camp in order to speak with Guinevere; she meets him outside her people's boundaries and gives him back his ring, claiming she does not love him. Guy is, understandably, enraged by this. They meet in battle and the two battle, both furious with each other. Guy triumphs, dealing Guinevere a mortal wound, from which she dies. In her final moments, Guinevere admits that she loved Guy, and Guy admits that he destroyed everything with his lies. Guy is captured by her people and, this time, when he is to be executed by hanging, there is no one to save him and he joins Guinevere.
