After killing all 'Mechs in the final mission using the Archer Agincourt, I decided to try this again using another 'Mech. Though I hate using the Annihilator because it's slow as molasses, I decided to use it because it can pack a ton of firepower.
The Annihilator 1A used in this mission is equipped with four tier 4 LB 10-X AC-SLD grouped to fire as a single salvo. I chose this weapon because the single autocannnon shell travels far without arcing down and the reload is pretty fast, ensuring high DPS. Damage is augmented using quad Medium Lasers. Note that this configuration is designed to concentrate damage on a single spot for maximum kill speed. However, like the SRM Agincourt this configuration does run hot and in extended usage I think it's better to prioritize using autocannons rather than the lasers to keep the heat down.
I wasn't too happy to lose the right torso but nonetheless the goal to kill all 'Mechs was again achieved. Final 'Mech kills for me was 28, 4 for Major Lindsay, 2 for Capt. Crawford and zero for Major Romano who slacked big time and had an almost pristine Atlas at the end of the mission.
Finally, although the weapons mounted on the two Union dropships can be targeted, they are purely cosmetic and will not fire on you. These dropships are outside of the mission area and cannot be reached as they are protected by the red "force field" marking the boundary of the map. Note that LRMs locked on these hardpoints will fail to hit.
