The Handel Aria Competition is an annual event dedicated to promoting the performance of Handel’s extensive vocal repertoire.
This year’s Handel Aria Competition took place on Friday, August 9, 2024 in the historic Grace Episcopal Church on the capitol square in Madison, Wisconsin.
The five finalists were chosen from an international field of over 125 applicants. They are:
Matthew Hill, tenor
Harrison Hintzsche, baritone
Chea Kang, soprano
Elijah McCormack, male soprano
Edmond Rodriguez, tenor
The judges for the final round of the 9th annual Handel Aria Competition were Chase Hopkins, Erica Schuller, and Matthew Treviño.
This year's winners were Elijah McCormack, male soprano, first prize; Chea Kang, soprano second prize; and Matthew Hill, tenor, third prize.
We invite you to make a donation to help us support emerging singers throughout the competition process. Funds are needed for travel grants (provided to all finalists to they can afford to come participate) and cash prizes, as well as remuneration for competition judges and instrumental accompanists.
