In product design, particularly in the automotive and consumer goods industries, surfaces are often categorized into Class A, Class B, and Class C. These classifications help designers, engineers, and manufacturers communicate and prioritize the quality and importance of different surface areas on a product
Class A surfaces are the visible exterior surfaces that are most critical to the aesthetic appeal and user interaction of a product. These surfaces must be flawless, with high-quality finishes that are smooth, reflective, and visually appealing
Class B surfaces are semi-visible or occasionally visible surfaces that do not require as high a quality finish as Class A surfaces. These surfaces are often hidden from direct view or seen less frequently by the user
Class C surfaces are the least critical surfaces in terms of aesthetics. These surfaces are typically hidden from view and have the lowest priority for finish quality. They are functional but do not require the same level of visual perfection as Class A or B surfaces.
