Wherein I
fill the last 2 pages in my heavy-duty sketchbook by copying an old comic book cover, for practice. This is one of the first sketchbooks I ever made, and I backed a bunch of the pages with cardstock of various neutral colors. This lets me use paint & brush pens with less bleed-through on those pages.
The illo I'm copying: Cover of 'House Of Mystery' #264 (January 1979, DC comics). Original art by Joe Orlando.
During these Quarantimes, one of the things that's been anxiety-reducing for me is to redraw old comic book panels and covers. This serves as important practice - both as trying to learn how other artists have used line, and as fairly chill meditation. Bonus: I genuinely love old, wonky comic book illustrations. Preferably out-of-context and awkwardly captioned.
Thanks for watching! If you dig the stuff I'm making, please to consider giving it a like/commenting/hitting the subscribe button.
