Ivy (Lynne Perrie) overstays her welcome at No.11 much to Alan’s (Alan Browning) annoyance. Ernie (Stephen Hancock) plans to repaint the ceiling but forgets he is supposed to be preaching at church. Ena (Violet Carson) berates the newlyweds for missing church. The Howards manage to escape for a while when Edna (Mavis Rogerson) comes to update Ivy about Jack (Bert Gaunt). Alan demands Elsie (Pat Phoenix) evict Ivy. She tries to convince Ivy not to leave Jack alone for his fancy woman Cheryl to get her claws into him. Ken (Bill Roache), Albert (Jack Howarth), and Stan (Bernard Youens) train the football team. Alan & Elsie are pushed to their limit when Ivy returns to No.11 after discovering Cheryl has got her feet under the table in Ivy's home.
