In this video, I break down my experience with the brand new Lumix S1R II and why I’m not taking it with me on an upcoming shoot. As a longtime Lumix fan who’s been patiently waiting for a full-frame 4K60 camera with no crop, I had high hopes for this body. But during my very first test here in Miami, the camera overheated not once, but twice. First indoors after about 30 minutes, and then again outside after just 5 minutes. Even after tweaking the internal temperature and fan settings, it still couldn’t hold up. Not exactly what you want in a brand new camera
The footage looked amazing when it worked. I’ll give it that. But I was genuinely shocked that something marketed as a video hybrid could perform this poorly in real-world conditions. I dive into the details of my tests, my exact setup, and why external monitors and V-mount batteries aren't the solution for my workflow. If you’ve been eyeing the S1R II for video work, you’re gonna want to watch this before making a decision.
