Denmark Syrian refugees are being send back to Damascus in Syria in the 1000s. Denmark returns Syrian refugees according to the Danish law on immigration but Syrians fear they will be put in detention centers once they arrive in Damascus.
Denmark sends Syrians back with the approval of almost all 12 political parties so it is more controversial on a human level rather than a matter of law. Denmark has no diplomatic relationship with the Bashar Al Assad government which has led the Danish government to send back mostly Syrian women as the men would often be put directly in prison for evading military duty.
Denmark is meeting international opposition on the issue and will soon face trials by Danish lawyers in the European Court of Human Rights, but if Denmark wins that case, they could set a precedence for other countries to do the same.
