The 2 Most Offensive Things Hearing People Say to Deaf People

In this video, I talk about two common phrases hearing people say that are deeply offensive to Deaf individuals:
👉 “You don’t look Deaf”
👉 “I would never have guessed you’re Deaf”

Let’s be clear — these statements are not compliments. They reflect outdated stereotypes and a lack of understanding about what it means to be Deaf. Being Deaf is not something to "fix" or "guess" — it's an identity and a culture that many of us are proud of.

I also dive into the idea that in the afterlife, people assume Deaf folks will be "healed" and become hearing. That assumption is harmful and completely misses the point: many of us love being Deaf and wouldn’t change it — not in this life or the next.
