A virtual walk in Paris, in the 2nd arrondissement, along rue du 4 septembre, Paris, France.

This street was named in honor of the date of the proclamation of the Third Republic on September 4, 1870.
Its opening was decreed by Napoleon III on August 24, 1864. Construction of the street was completed in 1868.
Initially called "Rue Réaumur Prolongée," it was renamed "Rue du Dix-Décembre," celebrating the day of Prince Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte's triumphant election to the presidency of the Republic.
After the announcement of the Emperor's capture and the proclamation of the French Republic, it was renamed "Rue du Quatre-Septembre" by order of the Mayor of Paris, then was subsequently called "Rue du Dix-Huit-Mars" to celebrate the beginning of the Commune, and then, after its fall, the "street without a name," before finally receiving its current name of Rue du Quatre-Septembre again.
