These are employees working on contract in the health and women and child development departments

Contract employees usually get lower salaries and perks than regular employees, and also have less job security. However, contract employees also get certain benefits and rights, such as maternity leave, equal pay for equal work, and protection from harassment at the workplace

A large number of contractual employees are working in government departments in Uttar Pradesh. The number of these employees is more than 6.12 lakh, out of which 2.88 lakh are working in Child Development Nutrition and 1.70 lakh in various bodies . Contract workers are hired for a fixed period or project and receive lower salaries and benefits than regular employees

Status of contract workers in UP:

Number:More than 6.12 lakh contract workers are working in government departments.  

Salary and Perks:Contract workers get less salary and facilities than regular employees.  

Regularization:There is a demand for regularisation of contract workers, but no concrete decision has been taken on this yet.  

Outsourcing:Some contract workers are also working through outsourcing, and questions have been raised about their wages and working conditions

Legal Battle:Some contract workers are also fighting legal battles for regularization.  

Latest Decision:The Supreme Court has recently ruled that contract employees do not have the right to regularisation, but if they have worked for a long time then they can approach court for relief, according to Lawfluencers

Problems of contract workers:

low pay:Contract workers often receive low salaries, making it difficult for them to make a living.  

lack of security:Contract workers face a lack of job security as they can be fired at any time.  

Lack of social security:Contract workers do not get the benefits of social security like pension, medical insurance etc. like regular employees.  

Demand for Regularization:Contract workers have been demanding regularization regularly, but the government has not taken any concrete steps on this yet.

The condition of contract workers in UP is pathetic, and they have to face many problems. The government should take steps to solve their problems and protect their rights.
