The story began from Indore airport in Navaratri. Just for your information the official name of Indore airport is Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport. From there I had to reach Omkareshwar temple which was 86 km via Indore Ichapur highway.
In the morning owner of the homestay Kamal ji started demonstrating about Omkareshwar.
After hearing from him I started my journey on the morning and my first destination was Mamleshwar Jyotirling. On the way I took blessings from Maa Sherawali.
In morning the market area was giving me good vibes and I was about to reach Mamleshwar Jyotirling.
Let's talk about Amleshwar or Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga. You might be thinking there is another jyotirlinga in Omkareshwar? Yes you here me right.
When Adi guru Shankar Acharya came to Om parvat, he realised during Monsoon, the water level of Narmada gets increased and it started creating problem for devotees who wants to reach Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga which is situated on an island. So he consecrated another jyotirlinga on the other side of Narmada river so that people don’t need to cross the river and they can easily access it during monsoon and put the same value as Omkareshwar jyotirlinga. This is called Mamleshwar jyotirlinga. Basically Omkar and Amleshwar both combined and creates Omkareshwar jyotirlinga. That's why if you come to Omkareshwar and visit both jyotirlinga, then only it will be considered that you complete the pilgrimage. Isn't it a beautiful fact!
Another story behind forming Mamleshwar Jyotirling is Vindhya practiced the hard penance of Lord Shiva to make him superior to all mountains. Vindhya is actually Vindhyachal Parvat which pass through Madhya Pradesh. And in our National Anthem also Vindhya is mentioned. Seeing the harsh penance, Gods and Rishis prayed to Lord Shiva to remain stable in the Vindhya region. Lord Shiva accepted the request and as a result the Omkarling located here is divided into two forms. The Sadashivas who existed under Pranav are known as Omkar.
Similarly, the Jyoti revered in Parthiva murthy is called Parmeshwar or Amaleshwar Jyotirlinga. Now, known as Mamleshwar Jyotirling.
Here every small temple will give you different vibes which will connect your inner soul once you spend time by your own. You will feel like nothing is bothering you, you will feel peace from inside, you can concentrate on each and every thing around you.
After going there I came to know this is Kashi vishwanath temple. Here sevak remains changed and stay behind the temple. I was lucky enough to get prashadam after a few words with him.
After I spend enough time on that temple I went towards skywalk and tried to explore Gaumukh ghat.
Next I visit Datta treya temple which is situated beside Mamleshwar temple. It is also a very old and peaceful temple. It melt my heart when I saw an old person recites Sundara kanda of Ramayana. I also noticed the sculptures were built on the wall. Then I went inside the garvagriha and visit Shiva Linga.
From far this Vishnu temple attracted me a lot because of its architecture. The decorations of the temple were simple but elegant and the location was overwhelming. Inside you get to see Vishnu and Mata Laxmi.
Now I came to J P Chowk from where I will take the foot bridge to cross the river. I will take you to the another pool later in this video.
Here in this bridge spend few times to observe around you as much as you can. You will understand the geographical decorum of Omkareshwar.
As mentioned before, I have taken you to the another pool which is called Mamleshwar pool or suspension bridge. From here if you step forward towards temple, on the right you will get to see Brahmpuri ghat.
So after crossing the river through Mamleshwar bridge you can see on the left the bridge is taking you directly to the temple.
Now I have reached to Om Parvat from here you can enjoy the river view.
While walking to the bridge, on left you will get to see few caves which are the home of few Sadhus.
Being a small town, you may find difficulties of food specifically for them who want to stay in Omkareshwar. Brahmin Bhojonalaya is the best option for them I would say. Go try there.
Let me finish first part of Omkareshwar video here. On the next part I will take you to the holi Narmada Parikrama on Om Parvat. Till then raise humanity spread peace.
