Le Carillon de Dunkerque is an American Country Dance dating at least back to 1862 when it was published in Elias Howe's "American Dancing Master". Howe claims the dance is a French one from his past. Landrin's Potpourri#.5 ( https://www.libraryofdance.org/manual... ) contains a dance of this name (1760~1780). And the tune was published in 1788: http://www.troubadourwallon.be/Manusc... . It is a circle dance for as many couples as will, shown here with four couples.
The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance is slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.
