It was painful enough to get it going, but I managed to build OBS from the latest git commit (with Wayland support) and use obs-xdg-portal and xdg-desktop-portal-wlr to record from Sway, which is my preferred environment!
The sound still seems a bit gammy (even apart from the whole 8-bit thing!), but I'm sure that's nothing to do with Wayland.
Note however that the Rayman 2 recording I uploaded earlier tonight was done on i3 (i.e. X11, not Wayland) since I can't make Rayman 2 work outside of native X…
