Veteran actress Mallika Sukumaran has responded strongly to the controversies surrounding Empuraan. Speaking to Manorama News, she revealed that the film's script was read collectively and that attempts were made to stall its release under the guise of a "cinema strike." She claimed that some feared Prithviraj’s rising fame and that the film industry has shown him significant support.

Mallika also criticized Major Ravi’s stance, stating that even higher-ranking military officials exist in her family. She expressed disbelief over the attempts to corner Mohanlal, emphasizing that Empuraan was a film where Lal had full knowledge of the script. Additionally, she mentioned that Mammootty had sent her a message of support after reading her Facebook post.
