Let’s first look at who Carl Czerny (1791-1857) was and why he is so significant in learning piano techniques. Czerny was Beethoven's most prominent piano student and later the teacher of Franz Liszt and Theodore Leschetizky. The great pianist Dinu Lipatti called him father Czerny to emphasize the importance of Czerny etudes in piano education.

I'll discuss Czerny etudes that are focussed on developing scale technique from very easy to very difficult. I started to play the piano "LATE" as a teenager; I was fifteen. TOO LATE is what many told me. However, it didn't discourage me, and I was lucky to have an excellent piano teacher early on. I knew what I wanted and had the discipline. Thus, I managed to pass the entrance exam for the conservatory with excellence 👌 in just 4 years of piano lessons!

In only 4 years of playing the piano, I managed to play very well Chopin's etude opus 25/12, Chopin's Fantasie-Impromptu, and Nocturne in F-Major, Mozart's sonata KV332, Rachmaninov's Pollichinelle, and Bach's Prelude and Fuge in C-minor and B-flat Minor.
