This is the 3rd of three pieces for flute, alto flute and piano written in the late 80s/early 90s which were recently edited and recorded (2022). It is part of my cycle of pieces "the Stars of the Constellations: Leporis". The work title for the piece was originally "impossible rhythm" from the piano part. I always thought I should have added a bass to the piece but never did.
Gamma Leporis is a relatively close, F-type main sequence star, only 29 light years distant. It is slightly larger and more massive than our sun, approx. 1.3 billion years old and has a surface temperature of 6,299 degrees Kelvin.
App. brightness: +3.6, Abs. brightness: -0.60, Stellar Classification: F6 V
Leporis is a dim constellation which represents the hare being chased by Orion and his hunting dogs; Canis Major and Canis Minor. It was originally called Largos by the Greeks and is one of the original 48 constellations listed by Ptolemy. Recorded in GarageBand, video made in iMovie
