“There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.” – Leonard Cohen
What happened to us in the past—especially the things we don’t recall—can have a profound impact on our health later in life. Issues like chronic illness, mental health struggles, or substance misuse may become present-day by-products of the past, arising years later as hypertension, disordered eating, diabetes, arthritis, depression, or even cancer.
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are traumatic events that happen before we become adults. Studies show that approximately 64% of Americans have experienced at least one adverse experience during childhood, while more than 17% of those surveyed experienced four or more different types of ACEs. But these figures don't account for the ones we can't remember, have blocked out, or that occurred to us when we were pre-verbal.
Through proven techniques rooted in natural therapies and Biological Medicine—think emotional self-regulation, mindful movement, energy medicine, social connection, etc.—we can be our own scientists exploring the past and revealing it in the light of day in service of our own healing.
With thoughtful reflection and active attention, we can begin to understand and hold the experiences of the past in order to move from disease and survival mode to optimal health and vitality. By attuning to the mind-body connection in this way, we can shift subconscious trauma histories to the conscious level in order to process, transform, heal, and grow.
This special one-hour presentation will give you a sneak preview of what to expect at the forthcoming in-person workshop on October 25th – 27th at the Omega Institute!
