Ahead of the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV, AWACN, in collaboration with Afrika Tikkun, hosted a #AWACNCommunities in Diepsloot to observe the global theme: “Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls.” The session delved into the theme through an AWACN lens of: “Gendered Corruption in the Digital Age: Mirror, Amplifier, and Archive,” highlighting how digital platforms can both perpetuate and challenge sexual corruption.
Ms. Claire Rankin from the @lrcsouthafrica delivered a compelling message emphasising how digital spaces can normalise harmful behaviors and how they also offer powerful avenues for advocacy, amplifying women’s voices and fostering integrity. She urged participants to critically engage with media, recognise harmful narratives, and actively resist them, even when confronting entrenched power structures feels daunting.
Let’s reclaim digital spaces for voice, visibility, and justice, and stand united against gendered corruption in all its forms.
