Stonehenge Isn't Even a Henge

What is a henge? How are henges classified? Is Stonehenge actually a henge?

In this video we're looking at the story of henges over the last 100 years. The reluctant adoption of the word to describe circular prehistoric monuments with inner ditches and causewayed entrances. Ensuing attempts to classify the structures. And of course the big question, what were these mysterious places built for?

Dating to the late Neolithic through to the early Bronze Age, there are estimated to be be just 80 henges in Britain, with Stonehenge being the most famous. Our investigation takes in ten of them.
