42 breathtaking miles. Despite the pictures I had seen, I did not believe Michigan had this kind of beauty in store for us. I wanted to maximize our time on this trail and decided to backpack it in 5 days, spending 4 nights on the trail. And, despite arriving at camp somewhere around 2 or 3 pm every day, I have zero regrets on taking 5 days to complete the trail. It was time very well spent along with my very best backpacking partner, "Fearless".

Our Backpacking itinerary with mileage between each campsite (mileage calculated with FarOut):
Grand Sable Visitor Center to Au Sable East: 7.6 miles
Au Sable East to Sevenmile Creek: 7.6 miles
Sevenmile Creek to Coves: 7.1 miles
Coves to Mosquito River: 8.4 miles
Mosquito River to Munising Visitor Center: 12 miles
