Deaf poet Richard Carter's signed poem (in British Sign Language) "Owl" tells a story of a young deaf boy who struggles with an oral education and learns to study with an owl who provides sign lanugage interpretation. It includes good examples of anthropomorphisation and deaf culture. It was performed at the Centre for Deaf Studies at the University of Bristol in January 2009.
