Sometimes I have the pleasure to write concert pieces. I find it to be a fun change of pace. One of the things I love about concert music is that the audience gets to put their own visuals to a piece. I can write a piece in a completely different headspace about a completely different thing, but whenever an audience member hears it, they may think of something completely different and have a powerful emotional response. Additionally, it’s always tremendously fulfilling to work with live musicians and create a performance that will never be truly experienced again in the same way. What does this piece feel like to you?
