On October 23rd, 2022, I convinced my dad to make the 3 1/2 hour drive to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad to see their stunning steam locomotive #1309. This fall season was the first time #1309 had run excursion services in the fall under WMSR ownership, so to have the privlege of saying I saw something sorta monumental is pretty cool. Also on the consist was recently acquired former NS B32-8 #558, which put on a pretty nice show as well. We got a fair amount of coverage of the train and some pretty nice shots I hope you'll all enjoy.
For those curious on why at the end the #1309 was disconnected from the train at the end of the video, I was told a hot-bearing alarm went off, and the crew of the locomotive not wanting to delay the train opted to cut the locomotive off while they try and diagnose the issue. Fortunately, it turned out to be a false alarm and #1309 simply followed shortly behind.
