Ringató Method

The Ringató session is the most popular music education program in Hungary, based on the Kodály method, and designed for families with young children. The name "Ringató" is difficult to translate into other languages, but in Hungarian, it conveys a dear and beautiful meaning: it refers to gentle, small, rocking movements as mothers embrace, cuddle, and soothe their babies.
The Ringató method was developed by Ilona Gróh, a highly known and award-winning music educator, who has published a lot in Hungary, including the handbook for the Ringató method. We warmly recommend this book to music educators. Like the Kodály method, it is highly adaptable to any culture.
We are seeking music educator colleagues who wish to implement the Ringató method in their own country in their own language and who wants to organize Ringató sessions.
The Ringató sessions are intended for parents who come with their children under the age of three. The sessions can be done in small groups or in front of a large audience.
What is needed to introduce the Ringató method in your country?
• Translation of the Ringató handbook into your native language
• Appropriate musical materials: folk songs, children's songs, lap games, rhymes
• Well-prepared session leaders who sing confidently, clearly, and expressively
• Instrumental skills
• Good presentation skills, persuasive ability
• Openness, good organizational skills
