This is a very basic video with a few camera angles of my 1979 Monte Carlo on the street with my G-Force GF5R. I had this listed as a private video to show a few guys but I just got a comment on another video about street driving so here it is. With the H-pattern shifter I don't use the clutch to shift gears. As I am letting out of the gas I pull into neutral then slightly pause before I shift to the next gear. As you can see it goes right in without clunking. The only time I get clunking is down shifting to 2nd or 3rd when I come up to a corner that I have to slow down for. I am currently using a Long pistol grip shifter and it is not quite as nice on the street. I do use the clutch with this shifter...I basically snatch each gear very quickly even when I am just slowly driving around and it is surprisingly quiet. Downshifting is not as nice when approaching a corner in traffic...2nd is the easiest to downshift to because its all the way at the top gate when the handle is pulled in...3rd is in the center gate and is hard to find when concentrating on traffic around you. I've found with the 5 speed that 3rd is normally where you want to be when you make a turn. I may put the H-pattern back in this spring...but boy will I miss the inline shifter at the track. I have plenty of videos posted of my car in action at the track.
