How To Use Vlookup Function in Excel in Bangla

Here are the steps to use the VLOOKUP function in Excel to retrieve the department based on the ID.

Step 1. Open the Excel workbook containing the data you want to use.
Step 2. Select the cell where you want to display the result of the VLOOKUP function.
Step 3. Type the =VLOOKUP formula in the selected cell.
Step 4. In the VLOOKUP formula, enter the ID number you want to search for as the first argument, enclosed in double quotes or a cell reference.
Step 5. In the second argument, specify the range of cells that contains the data you want to search in, including the column containing the department.
Step 6. In the third argument, enter the column number that contains the department. Note that the first column is column 1.
Step 7. In the fourth argument, specify whether to perform an exact match or an approximate match by entering TRUE or FALSE, respectively. It's recommended to use TRUE for this example.
Step 8. Press Enter to complete the formula and retrieve the department based on the ID.

Example formula: =VLOOKUP("113", A5:C13, 3, TRUE)

This formula searches for the ID "113" in the range A5 to C13 and returns the value in column 3 (the department) based on an exact match.
