In this video, we dig into a customer’s 2022+ Subaru WRX (VB chassis) that came in with a seriously low DAM (Dynamic Advance Multiplier) of 0.438—a clear sign of knock issues. The car was running a Cobb Off-The-Shelf (OTS) tune, a Perrin intake, catback exhaust, and a GFB diverter valve, which we’ve seen cause inconsistencies in other builds.
If you’ve watched our previous videos, you’ve seen how the VB WRX platform can be surprisingly responsive with the right tuning strategy—even the CVT-equipped cars can feel sharp when dialed in properly. But like many OTS-tuned cars, this one was plagued with feedback knock and ignition learning issues.
Rather than just pulling timing across the board (the lazy fix), we show a few smarter strategies to stabilize the DAM and reduce knock while preserving performance. Whether you’re dealing with similar mods or chasing a more refined tune, this is a good look into what it takes to actually fix a troubled VB WRX.
