Riding the kingdom's fastest and strongest horse, Ivan gallops far away, meeting interesting but sad folks along the way, including two old seamstresses, Vertadoo the oak plucker, and Vertigor the mountain mover. Their amazing jobs seem about to end forever. Ivan eventually finds safety in a house that is literally bright and shining—the home of the kind and warm Sun's Sister.
The Sun's Sister understands his need to return home briefly, but worried about his witchy sister, she gives Ivan incredible magical gifts: a magic hairbrush, a magic comb, and two special apples that can make you young again. Watch as Ivan uses these gifts to restore the livelihoods of his new friends, creating a whole new range of mountains, a massive brand new forest, and restoring youth and energy to the seamstresses.
When Ivan returns home, he is warned about a tricky spell and is forced to flee, chased by his furious witch sister. Using a magic handkerchief (a gift from the grateful seamstresses) and the powerful aid of his giant friends, Vertadub and Vertigor, Ivan delays the witch.
