Seen here is a ride on a 5 train, operated by R142, bound for Brooklyn College-Flatbush Avenue via Eastern Parkway local.
Due to structural work happening in the Clark Street tubes, 2 and 3 train service was suspended to Brooklyn. 4 and 5 train service replaced 2 and 3 services to Brooklyn as a way of providing alternative service, making local stops along Eastern Parkway. 2 train service swapped service with the 5 to Eastchester–Dyre Avenue to South Ferry via 1 line. 4 train service was extended to New Lots Avenue all weekend long. 5 train service swapped service with the 2 to Wakefield-241st Street to Brooklyn College-Flatbush Avenue.
In this video, I got me an R142, running on the 5 line soon to be leaving for Brooklyn College in a few minutes. Actually, in the first clip, the 5 train coming in was going out of service and would be heading back to the yard after a long day run, so I took the next train coming in going downtown. This train made all stops along the 2 line via White Plains Rd. before resuming normal service after East 180 Street and heading downtown via Lexington Avenue, making express stops along the way. I must admit, this train wasn’t all that crowded, but I did move around a little bit to stretch myself out a bit since sitting down too long really kills my legs for a long trip. But this ride was smooth since the conductor opened the doors quick and closed down ahead to get us moving towards the next stop.
In the end, this made another trip out as it headed back to the Bronx from Brooklyn College.
Enjoy!
