ASBL 48 Jonathan Harris, House Candidate, Florida District 16
Jonathan Harris is running as a Democrat for Congress in Florida’s District 16. We discussed his reasons for running and our small business issues.
From www.JonHarrisForCongress.com:
“Jonathan Harris is a proud U.S. Army veteran, technology professional, husband, and father who has dedicated his life to service, [enlisting] in the Army at just 20 years old, beginning a career [approaching] two decades across active duty and reserve service … as a Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve while working as a Senior Information Security Advisor supporting U.S. Special Operations Command.”
His priorities are clear:
• Strengthen veterans’ benefits and ensure that those who served our nation receive the care and respect they deserve.
• Make healthcare affordable and accessible for every American.
• Reduce reckless government spending and invest in America’s economic future.
• Promote accountability and transparency in Washington.
• Pass legislation to solve Social Security insolvency.
• Develop a bipartisan plan of action to reduce the National Debt.
He told us, “We’re in an affordability crisis, in America. People aren’t able to afford the extra things in life [or in] retirement … because things have gotten prohibitively expensive.”
“Being a veteran, I want to make sure that our veterans are taken care of. When they go to the V.A., I want to get rid of the red tape and the bureaucracy so they can just get the help that they need.”
Our small business issues:
The American Small Business League (www.asbl.com) works to stop big businesses from getting small business contracts.
Our www.DontCheatWomen.com project seeks to end discrimination against women in federal contracting. We want Congress to:
• Raise from 5% to 15% the amount of federal contract dollars that must go to women-owned small businesses.
Without economic fairness, women can’t be political equals.
Women are half the population. They own 40% of all businesses. They sell what the government buys.
Btu because they earn and save more than women, men dominate in politics. They give more to politicians and have more influence there. And it’s easier for men to run for and win office.
Men hold roughly 75% of seats in the House, Senate, all State Legislatures, and every president’s cabinet position. They hold almost that many governorships and 90% of committee chair and party leadership positions. Women have different political values and priorities, which deserve equal representation.
