Gold Beach is the code name for a sector of the D-Day landings in Normandy, France, where British troops landed on June 6, 1944, near the town of Arromanches-les-Bains. The town is home to the D-Day Museum (Musée du Débarquement), which explains the importance of the temporary artificial harbor, Port Winston, constructed there to aid the Allied advance. Visitors to the area can also see the remains of the Mulberry B harbour, explore nearby D-Day sites like the Longues-sur-Mer battery, and visit the Arromanches 360 circular cinema.
