In this chapter we open and empty an R622 bunker. We had the help of our small association "Esbjerg in the atlantic wall", and we want to thank everyone who made this possible.
Frequently asked questions:
Will this bunker stay open? - That is the owners choice, but probably not since opened bunkers can be vandalized or someone could get themselves hurt.
Were the bunkers originally underground? - Yes and no. Although most had the roof surface at ground level. The roof would then be covered with dirt and grass for camouflage. Note: All walls and the roof of "St" (Ständiges Bau)-bunkers are 2m thick.
