La Mortella - il luogo dei mirti - è un giardino tropicale ed esotico rinomato in tutta Europa. Di proprietà del compositore inglese Sir William Walton e di sua moglie Susana, fu originalmente disegnato dal paesaggista Russell Page ed aperto al pubblico solo nel 1991. William Walton venne ad abitare ad Ischia con la moglie argentina Susana subito dopo la seconda guerra mondiale, e nel corso degli anni i due intrattennero molti ospiti illustri, incluso Laurence Olivier, Vivien Leigh, Terence Rattigan, Maria Callas. Del resto l'isola di Ischia, nella Baia di Napoli è stata in generale e per molto tempo un rifugio per artisti, musicisti, scrittori e personaggi del cinema. Il giardino può essere visitato durante i mesi da aprile a novembre.

'La Mortella' (= the place of the myrtles, in neapolitan language) is a tropical and exotic garden renowned throughout Europe. Estate of the English composer Sir William Walton and his wife Susan, was originally designed by landscape architect Russell Page and open to the public only in 1991. William Walton came to live in Ischia with his argentine wife Susana just after the Second World War, and over the years, they gave hospitality to many famous personalities, including Laurence Olivier, Vivien Leigh, Terence Rattigan, Maria Callas. Besides the island of Ischia, in the Bay of Naples, was in general and for a long time a refuge for artists, musicians, writers and movie stars. The garden can be visited from April to November.
