This is the last big Loyalists Band Parade of the so-called Marching Season, where the Royal Black Preceptory holds several Parades around Northern Ireland, formerly known as Black Saturday but now mostly referred to as the Last Saturday, as this Parade is held on the last Saturday in August. My two nearest Parades this year were in Limavady, County Londonderry, and Castlederg, County Tyrone.
Castlederg would have more Accordion & Pipe Bands compared to Limavady, so I opted for the Castlederg Parade this year.
The Weather for this year's Last Saturday was wetter than any other that I can remember. Last Year's Parade in Raphoe, County Donegal, was a perfect, if not just a bit too warm.
Two years ago, it was biblical heavy showers, but otherwise dry in between. This year, it started off as a steady drizzle only to get heavier as the Day went on.
Some Bands were unable to do the return parade for fear of getting instruments damaged, but in this Main Parade, all the Bands, albeit wet, completed the Parade from the Field, around the town centre, then back to the field.
