Cities are contending with rapid population growth and dwindling resources. And the risk is rising: there is an increase in climate change-related disasters, exacerbated by poor city planning. To keep pace, we need more food, water, and energy. In fact, on a global scale, according to the Smart Cities Council, we need to build the equivalent of Chicago every month for the next 30 years.
