Dead Space Lore The Blood Moons
In the universe of dead space, the blood moons are the final form of the necromorphs it would seem at least for now. They are the combined biomass that a marker or necromorph outbreak creates. There are a few misconceptions to take into consideration one being the markers are not created by the brethren moons they simply take other markers that are left over from a convergence event and throw them into space as the moons them selves do not have the means to create these obelisks. That's why the markers implant mental blueprints they need other creatures and species to do that for them otherwise they simply would have no need to be replicated if the moons could do so on their own.
