White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday, during her first briefing for the Trump administration, that the recently announced halt to federal assistance and grant programs is “not a blanket pause,” adding that direct assistance to individuals would continue.
At 27 years old, Leavitt is the youngest press secretary in U.S. history.
Leavitt addressed a number of the policies enacted by Donald Trump in the days since he was sworn in as the 47th president, including his executive orders on deportations and border controls.
Leavitt also addressed a topic that garnered much attention leading up to the holidays, after a large number of nighttime drone sightings at the end of 2024. Leavitt said the drones are "not the enemy" and that they were authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) “for research and various other reasons."
