SD1 Minisport dramatic landing! When too many factors are in play in a landing things can go wrong.

So a simple little 20min hop from Old Park Farm to Rhigos - or so I thought! The oil temp alarm came on after 5 mins so I slowed right down to 65kts, that got me out of the red but remained in the amber, I decided to land on Rwy 09 rather than 27 as it would be a straight in approach and not need a circuit to land thus expediting matters. However to land on 09 I had to avoid the work done recently in topping and seeding the drainage ditches, no problem I thought, I can land beyond and still have 200m or so before reaching the displaced threshold and (now) long grass of 27. BUT the tailwind was much stronger than I expected, and 10s before landing I reached for the 2nd flaperon setting to try and slow things down a little, (see zooming runway passing by) but the ground was being eaten up fast and the threshold plus long grass approaching quickly, so whilst bouncing on landing due to fast approach and inertia from ground speed I had to boot a load of left rudder in to veer left to go down the gravel taxiway. All good fun and never in doubt......! Note to self - take the circuit and land into wind!
