Countdown is continuing... so we visited the Portuguese Synagogue and the Church in the Attic before we leave Amstardam to start a new life in Portugal. Both from the 1600's (Dutch GOlden Age) but with very different presence in the city.
The Portuguese Synagogue was built by the Portuguese Jewish community, and it was once the largest Synagogue in the World!!
The Chursch of our Lord in the Attic was a hidden Catholic church, right in the center of the city, built when religion was frown upon.
