Nate Ledford: Hi, my name is Nate Ledford, and I'm the clinical program coordinator for the recruitment of newly graduated nurses into UVA Health System. I work directly with newly graduate RNs and nurses with less than a year of experience just to be able to explore some opportunities here within the health system. What makes us a little bit unique is our very individualized approach to the recruitment process. We meet with each applicant individually, complete an intake interview, and explore opportunities that are currently available, as well as clarify how we can really partner with each candidate to be able to help them meet some of their longer term career goals. We want the overall experience to be a warm and supportive experience as applying to jobs can be very intimidating. What makes our clinician 1 program here at UVA Health truly unique is our investment in the success of each of our new nurses. We don't just hire clinician 1s, but we support and grow them in their career. Our program provides a robust orientation experience, and this just contributes to a foundation in clinical practice and also helps foster professional development as well as support each of our team members emotionally. All of our newly graduated RNs also participate in the Nurse Residency Program, and this contributes to their success in their overall role. We provide professional advancement pathways and we strive to support each of our newly graduated RNs with a community that wants to see them thrive and be successful. It's this culture of support, teamwork, and continuous learning that really sets us apart. I'm very proud to be a part of this program as it helps shape the next generation of nurses, all while keeping compassion and a high level of peer delivery, as well as a sense of belonging at the heart of everything that we do.
