This week’s paracord project is a monkey fist paracord keychain. This is made out of a single piece of paracord and does not have a marble or anything hard in the center.


Here are the steps:

You will need:

Scissors
Lighter
Ruler (tape measure)
Paracord – 4 ft
Key ring (optional)
Wild Wolf Mini Carabiner..found on Amazon

1st step…make a pretzel shape out of the paracord.

2nd step…take the long end and we will weave going under, then over, then under then over. See below for result.

Then pull it snug to form this type knot

We will take the long end and follow the paracord through the entire process again. It will double up our pattern.

Then take the long end and go into the middle of the project…

Then flip the project over and tie a knot, trim and burn the end. This will be the middle of the monkey fist.

We begin to tighten all the cords…you can start with pulling 2 at a time, then as it gets tighter, we will only pull 1 at a time.

See that the knot is in the middle as it starts to form a ball.

Now that all weaves are pulled tight, we can take the other end and secure it to our mini carabiner and then our keychain.
