Antique Desk Restoration - Refinishing like a pro!

Welcome back to Alley Picked! In today’s video, I take on the challenge of restoring a beautiful antique mahogany desk that’s heading to a law office in downtown Chicago. This isn’t your average refinish — the desk came with chipped veneer, loose joints, broken parts, and that tricky problem of red mahogany wood that needed to look less red.

Along the way, you’ll see how I:
✔ Sand veneer without burning through it
✔ Reapply edge banding the hard way (and why I did it)
✔ Repair joints and reglue broken sections
✔ Mix a custom stain color by adding green to Jacko Bean stain to cancel out the red tones
✔ Use orbital, mouse, and hand sanding to carefully prep intricate details
